Welcome to SEE Juniors

SEE Juniors is an alternative provision providing the highest quality care and intervention for local children aged five to eleven years. We aim to provide bespoke programmes providing specialist support to those pupils who would benefit from spending some time away from their current school environment, with the aim to develop strategies to support them to engage more effectively in their mainstream school.

We work closely with schools and families to support children to engage more effectively at their school.  Our team of staff have a wealth of knowledge and understanding from working with children across the age range and in different settings.  We use this experience to develop individual timetables and learning opportunities for all children to become enthusiastic, confident and independent learners.

Ethos

Our high-quality care and intervention are based around developing skills for the children to manage in education more effectively.  Every activity and intervention we offer will focus on at least one of our key areas for development:

Communication

We want children to be able to express their thoughts, feelings, needs and ideas whilst also listening and responding to others.

Resilience

We want children to be able to cope with challenges, setbacks and change, and to keep trying when things are difficult.

Cooperation

We want children to be able to work and play positively with others.

Intent: To provide a safe, nurturing alternative provision where children develop communication, resilience and cooperation skills while accessing a bespoke curriculum that promotes academic, social and personal growth.

Implementation: Through personalised learning, literacy, numeracy, craft, physical, sensory, social and life skills activities, delivered within a supportive and therapeutic environment.

Impact: Children grow in confidence, independence and wellbeing, developing the skills and resilience needed to re-engage with learning and achieve success in school and beyond.

Testimonials from schools

‘We enlisted the support of SEE juniors to support a child in Year Six who has struggled to access mainstream education. During the time that SEE have been working with this child, there has been progress in his engagement and social development. Through clear communication before and during his provision, both school and parents have been kept informed of the progress and any challenges. Clear, manageable boundaries for the child have also helped overcome some barriers. As a school, we have appreciated the high-quality of the provision offered and the approachability of the staff involved.’

‘One of our pupils is currently attending SEE Junior Provision.  Here he is receiving targeted support in an environment that is and has been adapted to suit his needs. It is apparent that staff have a clear understanding of his complex needs and behaviour and have developed a bespoke curriculum to support him using both the indoor and outdoor environment. This is reflected upon on a daily basis and adapted accordingly.  SEE has developed excellent relations with both his parents and staff at our school and have endeavoured to keep us fully informed of the curriculum he is accessing and the progress he is making.  Visits to the setting have been both welcoming and informative.

I can highly recommend the care, support, interaction and environment that they have provided.’

'Our experience of SEE has been extremely positive. The support they have provided for Dougie has made a significant difference, and over the last few months we have seen a real transformation in him.  Prior to attending SEE, Dougie was finding it increasingly difficult to access mainstream education. He was regularly refusing school and, when in school, could become significantly dysregulated. At times, this resulted in physical behaviours towards others, disruption to the learning environment and periods of exclusion. It was becoming increasingly clear that the mainstream environment was not able to meet his individual needs effectively.  Since attending SEE, the change in Dougie has been remarkable. He has gone from being a young person who was struggling to access education at all, to someone who is engaging with learning in an environment that is appropriate to his needs. Their nurturing, understanding and individualised approach has enabled him to feel safe, build positive relationships and experience success in education again.

From a school perspective, SEE have also been fantastic to work with. Communication is always clear, efficient and consistent, and they have worked closely with us to ensure that Dougie’s SEND needs are understood and supported. Most importantly, they have recognised the young person behind the behaviours and provided him with an environment in which he can access education successfully. We are incredibly grateful for the positive difference they have made.'
